BUILDING THE PROJECT

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico faced the tough reality of temporarily closing its doors during quarantine. During this downtime, Masterminds Studios upgraded AV equipment for the lobby, theater venue, backstage, and green room. Upgrading the infrastructure to high-speed copper and fiber allowed for a more future-proof system that can adjust with the progression of technology. We installed touchscreen interfaces around the building to extend control options and simplify usability for visiting groups unfamiliar with the theater’s controls. The sound and lighting consoles were updated to modern, user-friendly models and programmed to allow even simpler control from the touchscreens. A new 4K LED projector was installed to present a brighter, crisper image and reduce energy costs. The green room was outfitted with a public address system for in-house and backstage announcements as well as a flat screen display transmitting a feed of the stage activity.
